Case Study

Dover Port – WISE Handling Boat Hoist

The Request

As the WISE agent, Willett Built were asked to relocate the client’s W50 Boat Hoist to a new location in DOVER Port.

The Approach

The W50 Hoist would be drained of hydraulic oil and ‘Taken Down’ to transport it by road. The W50 would be re-assembled in a new location in the Port, Commissioned and Tested.

The Takedown

Our WISE Team attended the W50 in Dover and set about preparations to relocate. Willett Built operate a zero spill policy, so every precaution is made to keep the environment clean during our work. The first jobs to tackle were wheel nuts, draining hydraulic oil and removing the jib crane. With a crane attached, the W50 can be removed beam by beam and set onto blocks for a contracted transport company to transport to SITE 2.

The Rebuild

With all the W50 Components at SITE 2, the rebuild can commence with new Frame Bolts. The Jib crane remained off the machine for maintenance and would be reunited with the W50 later.

The Commissioning

The hoist was run up, and all functions were tested and signed off, ready for testing.

The Summary:

    • The boat hoist was prepared and then taken down for transport
    • The boat hoist was then rebuilt with new frame bolts.
    • The boat hoist was commissioned and tested.
    • The boat hoist was then load tested.

Client Feedback

“Very professional, patient and accommodating to our requirements and internal working processes. I would not hesitate to approach Andy, Rachal and the team for any future works on our Wise hoist.”
